DÉJÀ VU
I seem to have been here before –
The aching, the pangs of the same loneliness
Threatening to overwhelm me in its iron grip.
I have lost my way,
I need to retrace my footsteps in the sand.
Try in vain to go back to higher ground,
Before the sea rushes to me,
And surges me away forever.
Time to make at least another stand,
Time for the days to drift by, but still time to mend.
I may be growing older.
I may not walk so fast as I did,
The sand becoming more sluggish beneath my tired feet,
Harder to walk through.
Yet I will walk nonetheless.
I will break free from the circle.
And soar!
Just takes a little time.
I Often Dream I Am Running
I often dream I am running,
At times it can be of slow motion,
My arms and legs pumping but getting nowhere,
Other times the universe zooms past me,
A cacophony of noise and swirls,
Lights so alive they make sound,
A surge of speed as the images fly by.
I often dream of such things,
I often wonder what this all means.
Am I rushing, blindly, in my own life?
Or am I just letting time slip by,
Without a word or a care?
Just my legs moving,
Running, faster, and faster, and faster,
Building up to a frenzied, dizziness of limbs.
Often I trip, stumbling over my own feet
To fall into a sea of nightmares.
It is fitting I can still wake up after these visions.
Always time to run.
Always time to change.
