A Gathering Of Wings

Genre: Poetry

Sample Poem: The Gathering Part One

Can you hear them?
Dull thuds beating the air;
A gathering of wings.

Please see me, and take me with you.
Into the azure blue,
Away from all these hindrances!
People flocking together in nuisance.
I have done no harm,
My biology part of it all, calm
In the knowledge I am meant to be,
A man conditioned in defiled chemistry.

Blasphemy, they call this,
My mind reaching out from the abyss,
To strive for something purer,
As chaos treads ever surer.
Yet that is what I am, is it not?
A being of deep, powerful thought,
Clutching out to survive
The ending of this time.

Please, seek me out, I want to go,
Take my body and don't let me fall,
Carry me with your physical strength,
Keep me away from harm's length.
I want to endure, as all living things do,
I am afraid, that is surely true,
Yet you could save me from torment,
Find a space for me in your moment.

Can you hear them?
Dull thuds beating the air;
A gathering of wings.

The time is coming, for us all,
To take a stand, embrace or fall,
Become one again with the soil,
Or choose another way to yet toil.
I choose life;
Always, it is not time to die,
There are so many more delights,
Unknown treasures yet to find.

Deep down, in the small alcoves,
Where my soul dwells and moves,
I see hope, and passion, and wisdom,
And know we will yet find our freedom,
Our place in this elemental haven,
Amongst the black crows and ravens,
That cackle to each other, senses above
All that we know, nurture, and love.

You could come with me.
A place where we would never be lonely.
Gather, unite as one,
Let the new age of light become.
We can be angels and demons,
Winged and majestic reasons,
For all new life -
A re-emergence from this fading night.
