Sample Poem: Autumn Leaves

You are clearly falling from my sight,
Like autumn leaves, wasted and without life.
I have come to perceive you with different eyes,
With different thoughts, and a different mind.
A loss of respect, because one such as you
Deserves no less: when I can gaze
Through your tree, barren and empty,
All your power and colour gone.

I see beyond you now, to the bright horizon,
No longer clouded by your distinct foliage,
Your changing ways and shades,
Like a sinister chameleon,
Shattering my illusions and enticing me -
Into foolish dreams and false hopes:
That the joy of Spring lasts forever,
When it cleary does not.

Yet your leaves will fall and nurture the soil,
Breathe in new life, so that Spring
Will once again unfold.
Then there will be a new time,
To love and dream once more.
Show your new colours off.
Change, and show me your true form.
Bring my eyes back to you again.
